Science Fiction stories invariably portray aliens as strange biological forms, with little or no resemblance to the human race. Often, aliens who land on our planet either invade it by violent means or proceed to destroy our civilization in what is presumed to be some deep antagonism they harbor against us.
The basic idea of the book recognizes that energy, as the ultimate force in the universe, maintains a precise equilibrium. It suggests that any distortion of that energy balance, especially those projections found on earth can create negative repercussions in other spheres of energy in the universe. It concludes that in order to adopt corrective measures in our planet, energy entities from beyond our universe adopt human shapes and proceed to identify the causes of the energy distortions in the planet, and to plan the steps to remedy the situation. In the process, they acquire the traits of human beings whose variety and range enable them to appreciate and enjoy some of the better features of life on earth.
In this story, energy in surprising human shapes, coming from other levels of the universe provide an insight into the human mind and revive some events of the history of civilization. The ‘visitors’ are surprised at the extent and the nature of the conflicts and contradictions that exist within each human being but also at the incredible range of emotion and thought displayed by the races on earth.
Richard Ferguson, an anthropologist and writer is called upon to assist the Secretary General of the United Nations who has been selected by the visitors to act in behalf of the inhabitants of the planet. The highly developed technology of the visitors soon attracts the interest of a well known tycoon and financier, who attempts to by-pass the UN in order to secure a direct line of communication with the visitors.
Soon, the entire human race and the visitors alike identify the real reasons that have caused the energy distortion on Planet earth. The measure adopted by the visitors to rectify this existing unbalance is a surprising one.
